Beginning on June 25, 2010, Air China will begin service between Shanghai Hongqiao Airport (SHA) and Taipei Sungshan Airport (TSA). The new SHA-TSA route will have four flights per week (on 2/4/5/6, respectively), with return flights on the same day. On Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, the flights will depart from SHA at 11:40, and arrive at TSA at 13:30. The corresponding return flights will depart TSA at 14:30 and arrive at SHA at 16:20. The Thursday flight will depart from SHA at 12:10 and arrive at TSA at 14:00, returning to SHA at 16:50 with a 15:00 departure from TSA.
Recently, civil aviation authorities on both sides of the Strait held the 3rd communication conference in Taipei. The two sides have reached an agreement on the opening of a SHA-TSA route, an increase in the amount of destinations and the frequency of passenger and cargo flights, and the inclusion of irregular tour charter flights. Air China had been closely monitoring the entire process and eventually won the right to operate four weekly flights on the SHA-TSA route as well as three more weekly flights between Beijing and Taipei. Air China has made careful preparations for the opening of the route, and each passenger will be given special souvenirs on the inaugural flight.
