Visit India on Air China to discover ancient

 romance and modern movies

Fly from Beijing to Mumbai on Air China to visit the world's largest democracy.   China, Bhutan and Nepal border India on the northeast, Bangladesh and Myanmar lie to the east and Pakistan shares India's western land border.  India is known as the sub-continent, and much of the country is bordered by water.  The Bay of Bengal, on the east, and the Arabian Sea, on the west, completely surround southern India. From the highest Himalayan Peaks to the beautiful beaches of Goa, India is known for its beautiful  scenery.

Surely, the most famous site in India is the magnificent Taj Mahal, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.   It stands today as proof of how deeply one man loved his wife.  Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan was head-over-heels in love with his dear wife, Mumtaz Mahal.  They married in 1612 and she died in 1631, while giving birth to their 14th child.  The Emperor decided to build a great monument to be sure that her memory would never be forgotten, so he started construction of Taj Mahal the same year she died.  It took approximately 22 years to finish building what we see today – the glimmering white marble testament to one man's enduring love.

For a more modern look at the romantic heart of India, take a tour of Bollywood, the home of the largest film producers in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world.  Based in Mumbai, Bollywood is the center of the Hindi-language film industry, known for romantic love stories and lavish musical performances.  Visitors can drive past movie stars' homes and if you're lucky enough to be there at the right time, you may be able to visit a film studio to watch live filming of an upcoming release.

After a busy day of sightseeing, stop by a local restaurant to try some traditional Indian dishes.  You can choose from a wide range of regional cuisines, each with their own special flavors.  Whether you choose curries or kebabs, you will taste the soul of this vast country by sampling their cuisine.

Air China Connects Houston and Beijing with New Nonstop Service

Houston (July 11, 2013) Air China, the exclusive national flag carrier for the People's Republic of China, begins its four weekly nonstop services between Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) in Beijing, China and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas today.

The inaugural flight from Beijing, CA 995, arrived at 3:40pm this afternoon to a Texas-sized welcome which included a traditional water cannon salute. Houston Mayor Annise Parker was on hand to greet the delegation from China led by Ms. Yinxiang Wang, Co-Chairwoman of Air China Limited; Chinese Consul General for Texas and seven U.S. southern states and Puerto Rico, Ms. Erwen Xu; and, former Houston Rockets star and now Houston's Honorary Goodwill Ambassador, Yao Ming.

"Houston continues to enhance its position as a key global gateway and the arrival of Air China speaks volumes about the potential for even more growth in the future," says Mayor Annise Parker. "The cultures and economies of Beijing and Houston continue to draw closer together than ever before and nonstop air service between the two cities will help both sides maximize the benefits associated with new partnerships and greater connectivity•"

With the launch of the nonstop service, Houston becomes Air China's fifth gateway in North America, joining Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Vancouver. Air China will operate inside Terminal D at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston's gateway for all foreign carriers.

"As the only airline that provides direct connection between Houston and the south central region of the United States and China via Beijing, we are honored to be the cultural, social and economic bridge between our two great destinations. This new service demonstrates Air China's commitment to expanded connectivity for the mutual benefits of our countries and people," Ms. Wang stated.

Houston and Beijing have enjoyed a strong relationship for several decades. China's paramount leader, the late Deng Xiaoping, visited Houston during his historic trip to the United States in 1979.

"The entire Houston region will benefit from this new Air China flight, both economically and from a cultural standpoint," says Houston Aviation Director Mario Diaz. "Four weekly nonstop flights between the two destinations will not only strengthen the business ties between Houston and Beijing but will also enhance the level of cultural enrichment and exchange that already exists between these two dynamic cities"

Air China will operate the nonstop flights, CA 996, from Houston to Beijing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, departing at 1:00 AM local time and arriving in Beijing at 4:50 AM local time, next day.

Air China offers 36+11 non-stop round trip flights each week serving North America

Air China now offers 74 non-stop round trip flights each week to and from US cities and 22 non-stop round trip flights each week to and from cities in Canada.  With more routes, higher flight frequency, more luxurious aircraft, more favorable fares and a spacious economy class seat configuration, without a doubt Air China will become your first choice when flying to North America.

In order to better serve the ever-growing U.S. air transport market, Air China has introduced top of the line Boeing and Airbus models to serve our U.S. routes. Air China has opted for a luxurious and spacious cabin layout plan for every class of seating (including economy class) in all Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330 aircraft in order to offer passengers greater comfort.  This means that Air China's planes have one less seat per row than some airlines operating on the same routes, giving our passengers a more comfortable flight.

Features of the Award-Winning A330-200
Business and Economy Class seats are equipped with
personal video entertainment systems.

A trip on Air China's A330 can be the experience of a lifetime.

Welcome aboard Air China!  When you board Air China's A330, you will know you've made the best choice. Perhaps you are impressed by the 2-4-2 seat configuration in Economy Class.  Most other airlines have a 3-5-3 Economy Class seat configuration, which means in every row on an Air China flight there will be fewer people sitting next to you.  On a long trip (23 hours) it makes a big difference in comfort compared with most other airlines operating on this long haul route.

But more comfortable seating is not the only exciting feature we have.

You will be greeted by our friendly crew and impressed by the "multi-screen world" found in the cabin.  This is the video entertainment system available in every seat in both Business Class and Economy Class, which is the hallmark of Air China's A330.  Air China will usher in the multi-screen era in the sky, thousands of meters high.

The A330-200's extensive features include:

A330-200 Business Class

Maximum personal space and meticulously placed individualized lighting bring privacy and decorum to the Business Class experience.

  • 180-degree lie-flat business seats
Each A330 aircraft provides 30 luxury 180-degree lie-flat seats, which can be changed to a bed in flight, offering a lie-flat length of 78 inches (2.38 meters) and a width of 23.9 inches (0.73 meters), allowing passengers to be completely at ease.
  • Dynamic lighting system
Fitted with dynamic lighting which is completely adjustable, the lights aboard the aircraft can be adjusted whether you're handling official business, having a rest, enjoying the entertainment or eating dinner.  The demand for onboard power is easily managed because an individual independent power supply is available at each seat.
  • 15-inch personal LCD screen offers in-cabin entertainment
A high-quality 15-inch touch screen LCD fitted with a Thales entertainment system allows you to enjoy the whole flight at your leisure - watching movies, playing games or searching for information; everything is at your fingertips.
  • 80-inch seat pitch provides complete comfort
With each seat offering a pitch of 80 inches (2.44 meters), your legs can relax and you will feel comfortable from head to toe.

Tip 1 - There is a remote-control with which you can easily raise the baffle below your seat anytime you like. The gently raised baffle will provide proper support to your legs. You can adjust it to achieve any angle that you wish.

Tip 2 - As you press the button to recline, the seat will slowly tilt back, lowering you comfortably to any angle between upright and fully flat, so you can choose the perfect position for comfortable movie viewing or a restful in-flight sleep.

A330-200 Economy Class

Larger comfortable seats allow total relaxation and provide more legroom

There are now 207 Economy Class seats, each equipped with a personal video entertainment system to provide an enjoyable flying experience.

More spacious seat pitch allows passengers to completely relax their legs and an easily adjustable backrest angle prevents fatigue.

Air China's San Francisco – Chongqing route will be flown by the wide-body, double-decker Boeing 747 aircraft.  Currently used as the special aircraft type preferred by Chinese state leaders, the Boeing 747 features both safety and comfort, and is well designed for long-haul transoceanic flight.
