Air China Announces Direct 10-hour Flights Between Chengdu and Frankfurt

Air China Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ¡°Air China¡±) will offer direct flights between Chengdu and Frankfurt beginning on May 19, 2013.  There will be three flights each week, served by the Airbus A330-200, the leading long-range passenger aircraft. The flight will take approximately 10 hours, and will strengthen Chengdu¡¯s role as a western China airport hub, providing passengers in southwest China time-saving and money-saving choices when they travel to Europe.

Currently, passengers from Chengdu and other cities in southwest China must fly through Beijing, Shanghai or Hong Kong when they travel to Germany.  Because of transfers and connection times, these trips usually take at least 15 hours.  After the new Chengdu ¨C Frankfurt flights begin, Chengdu will join Beijing and Shanghai as the third inland city where passengers can choose a direct 10-hour flight to Frankfurt, greatly shortening the previous travel time. In addition, this more convenient and faster air route will promote the rapid development of south-west China¡¯s economy and tourist industry.

Air China¡¯s direct flights between Chengdu and Frankfurt, CA431/432, will fly three round-trips each week (on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday).  Flights depart from Chengdu at 1:30 a.m. (Beijing time) and arrive in Frankfurt at 6:10 a.m. (local time) on the same day.  The return flight departs from Frankfurt at 2:00 p.m. (local time), and reaches Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport at 5:40 a.m. the next day.  The flights have been scheduled to accommodate passengers¡¯ needs to connect to ongoing flights in Frankfurt and Chengdu.

The A330-200 cabin is fully equipped with a personal entertainment systems in every seat, and in Business Class, the seats recline a full 180-degrees.
