Accompanied Child / Infant Travelers

Please prepare in advance when traveling with a child or infant.

Age Limit

An accompanied child refers to a child that is over 2 years of age and under 12 years of age. An accompanied infant refers to an infant that is below 2 years of age. The adult traveling with the child or infant must be over 18 years old and a guardian of the child.

General Regulations

An adult should not travel with more than 2 infants, one infant and two children, or three children.

You must obtain approval from Air China to travel with an infant. The infant should be over 14 days old and if premature, over 90 days old.

The accompanied child/infant must be in the same cabin as the accompanying adult. If the accompanying adult is not in the same cabin, then you must follow unaccompanied children procedures.

Ticket Price

Children between the ages of 2-12 years old can travel using the Children Fare which is regulated by the carrier. Infants under the age of 2 years old can travel at a 90% discount of the published fare of first class, business class or economy class but will not have their own seat assignment. If you would like your infant to have an independent seat, please purchase Child Fare ticket. If you have more than one infant, please purchase a Child Fare ticket for the second infant.


Most flights on Air China provide cradles for babies. Please reserve a cradle more than 72 hours in advance to ensure one is available. This can be done through the local business department of Air China.

Child and infant meals are available. Please request these special meals during your ticket reservation.

1.Child Meal (CHML) ĘC This meal is prepared for child passengers. No salty or sweet foods are used.

2.Baby Meal (BBML) ĘC This meal is prepared for infants. Two types of baby food are served, such as meat, vegetables or fruit.

Unaccompanied Minors

General Regulations

If your child is traveling alone, our unaccompanied minor service will put your mind at ease. The unaccompanied minor service is for children who are above the age of 5 and under the age of 12 that will be traveling without an adult. Please request this service from Air China in advance, otherwise we will not be able to take responsibility for your child during travel. If desired, the unaccompanied minor service is available for travelers over the age of 12 and under the age of 18.

To request the unaccompanied minor service, please fill out an application at the local business department at least 24 hours before departure. In order to have enough time to get the service set-up properly, we suggest you apply in advance of 24 hours before departure.

As a parent or guardian, you will need to show identification and valid travel documents for the child to apply for the unaccompanied minor service. Besides, the parent or guardian is required to show identification for themself and for the Unaccompanied Minor along with valid travel documents. In addition, the address and contact information of the person who will collect and drop-off the Unaccompanied Minor at the airport will need to be provided.

Service Fees

For domestic and international flights, it costs RMB 260 or $30 for a one-way direct flight.


We ensure that your child will be taken care of for the entire flight. If there are any irregularities with the flight, we will appoint someone to arrange for accommodation and transportation for your child.
