If you cannot sit in an airline seat during the entire trip from takeoff to landing, you may make a request for stretcher service.
- Travel instructions
If you wish to book stretcher service, please make a request at one of our direct sales offices at the point of first departure within the time periods described below. The stretcher may be boarded only after we have made appropriate arrangements.
(1) For United States and Canada routes, please make a request at least 48 hours (inclusive) prior to flight departure.
(2) For routes other than the United States and Canada routes, please make a request at least three days prior to flight departure (exclusive of the day of departure).
To ensure your safety during the trip, please travel with at least one adult companion passenger over 18 years old or a healthcare provider.
Each flight can only accommodate one stretcher passenger. Our stretcher device will be placed in the Economy Class cabin.
Please arrive at the check-in counter no later than 180 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time to complete check-in procedures.
- Medical clearance
You must provide a medical clearance certificate issued by a county level, or Grade A, Class 2 or higher level hospital at the time of ticket purchase. The medical clearance certificate must have been issued no more than three days before the earliest departure date (exclusive of the day of departure). If you take a flight originating in Tibet, please present a medical clearance certificate that allows you to board the aircraft, issued no more than 24 hours prior to flight departure.
- Applicable fares and taxes
You must purchase multiple tickets in order for the seats to be occupied by a stretcher.
For international, regional and domestic routes other than European and North American routes, the stretcher fare is eight times the regular Economy Class (cabin Y) fare.
For European and North American routes, the stretcher fare is six times the regular Economy Class (cabin Y) fare.
Children or infants requesting stretcher service are charged the same fare as adult stretcher passengers.
Passengers requesting stretchers are required to pay a fuel surcharge calculated using the same multiple that applies to the ticket fares, but all other taxes remain the same as those charged for comparable individual tickets.
- Date changes and refunds
If you make a request for a date change or refund prior to flight departure, we may honor your request free of charge. Date changes and refunds are not allowed after flight departure.
- Free baggage allowance
On routes where the free baggage allowance is determined by weight, the free baggage allowance for stretcher passengers is 60 kg; each piece of luggage shall not exceed the maximum dimensions of 100 cm×60 cm×40 cm.
On routes where the free baggage allowance is determined by the piece, stretcher passengers are allowed three pieces of checked baggage free of charge. Each piece must weigh no more than 23 kg, and the total linear dimensions of each piece may not exceed 115 cm.
