Air China’s 1st Anniversary in Geneva
A grand ceremony was held on Wednesday 7 May 2014 at the Hotel President Wilson to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Air China’s launch of the Geneva-Beijing route.
During the official part of the ceremony, the speakers were Madam WANG Fan, Air China’s Director in Switzerland, H.E. Madam XU Jinghu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Bern, Mr. Robert DEILLON, CEO of Genève Aéroport, and Mr. Pierre MAUDET, State Councillor and Chairman of the Administrative Board of Genève Aéroport.
All the speakers underlined the very important development of relations between China and Switzerland and more particularly between Beijing and Geneva. In recent months, exchanges have been very intensive, whether in the fields of politics, trade, tourism, culture, education, or music, etc.
The Geneva-Beijing route, operated 4 times a week by Airbus A330, has made a major contribution to closer relations and will enable even more intensive exchanges. During the first year, more than 53'000 passengers took the direct flight and were able to enjoy the excellent on-board service, impeccable schedules, and efficient connections via Beijing. So it has already been a success for Air China, for Genève Aéroport and for the whole region.
A hundred or so guests representing the economy, the diplomatic sector, the travel industry, and associations attended the evening and were able to sample Chinese culinary specialities. The event ended with a birthday cake and a very festive show.
